More details to come
π Mendocino County
Town of Mendocino
We highly recommend spending an afternoon exploring the town Mendocino. It’s about 25 minutes north of Cuffey’s Cove and is absolutely adorable. It’s a classic seaside town with tons of restaurants and little shops to check out.
Check out Cafe Beaujolais, The Brickery, and The Waiting Room These three spots are all owned by the same people and are great dining options in Mendocino. Cafe Beaujolais is the fancy dining option, the Brickery is a casual pizzeria and bakery with garden seating, and The Waiting Room is a coffee shop. You should also check out Frankie’s for ice cream and pizza.
Take a walk around the Mendocino bluffs and beaches or rent some kayaks in nearby Little River.
Toot toot. Train enthusiasts rejoice. For some reason, The Skunk Train exists. If you, like Jesse, love trains, you should check out this strange and wonderful train that will take you on a good ol’ fashion ride through the redwoods π
Boonville
If you’re coming up the 101, make sure you stop in Boonville! It’s about 45 mins from Cuffey’s Cove. The town itself has some lovely places to stop for lunch, like the Boonville Hotel and Restaurant and Offspring Pizza. It’s in the Anderson Valley, so there are tons of nearby wineries to do tastings!
Some winery recommendations:
Harbor House Inn
Want to do something β¨fancyβ¨? Harbor House Inn is a 2 star Michelin restaurant that is literally a 1 min drive from Cuffey’s Cove Ranch. They serve amazing dinners and lunches and have an unbelievable view from their dining room.
π Highway 1 Stops
Bolinas
Bolinas is a quintessential California surf town and is one of our favorite day trips from San Francisco. If you’re a surfer, rent a board and wetsuit in nearby Stinson Beach and take it out at Bolinas beach, grab lunch at 11 Wharf Road, or go for a hike from the Palomarin trailhead to Alamere Falls
Stinson Beach
Stinson Beach is Bolinas’ slightly larger neighbor and has a bit more going on. There are several shops, a bookstore, and restaurants. If you’re planning on staying a day or so, this is the place to get a rental. You can also access the Mt. Tam hiking area via the Matt Davis Trail or the Dipsea Trail but be warned, these trails will kick your butt.
Hog Island Oyster Co
This is one of our favorite spots. You can get a tour of their oyster farm and eat at their outside boat bar. Make a reservation well in advance, it fills up quickly!
Tomales Bay State Park
Great spot for a short hike amongst some wild elk. There’s a cute lighthouse and great ocean lookout points. LOOK FOR WHALES!!!!
Bodega Bay
There are tons of great little towns along the 1, but this is where they shot The Birds. 10/10 Spookies
